NEW Chrome Genuine Stromberg 97 carburetor
Just in! The new Chrome Genuine Stromberg 97 carburetor that's chromed the traditional way.
The high quality zinc alloy Genuine Stromberg 97 castings are hand polished. They're copper and nickel plated, buffed again then chromed before a finish detail polish to impart great color and depth.
All of the stainless parts are hand polished before any sub-assemblies are completed. The brass S-jet inlet valve, idle needle screws and small plugs are chromed. And all of the threads and fuel passages are chased and cleaned before assembly. The base castings are supplied in the usual Stromberg high quality black lacquer finish. The final result is a real show quality chrome product with a full warranty.

Here the real Brand new Stromberg 97 with the stainless steel Lincoln Zephyr Throttle shaft and lever kit installed. It's designed to push instead of pull the throttle lever. This is handy for cars like the 1949 Mercury or any 1930s Lincoln Zephyr where the pedal does exactly that. The throttle shaft is a replica of the original Lincoln Zephyr part.

Here are the highlights:
Super-accurate pressure die-castings from new dies, CNC-machined for a blue-print parts fit. So no oversize screw threads. No mystery parts from previous rebuilds. No problems.
An early style cast iron base with stock size - not second-best oversize - throttle shaft. Parkerized as per original factory spec. Lightly rusted on the outside, then rattle can painted with a careful mist of satin black.
Main castings and stainless steel parts lightly media blasted. External brass parts heat aged.
Every Barn Find model even comes with a 'Reconditioned with Stromberg Genuine Parts' rosette decal to complete the look.
Operational efficiency remains key so some parts, like the choke plate, accelerator pump rod and springs, are left untouched. It all adds to the old, but reconditioned look.

Original Stromberg 97-REBUILT
Rebuilt large logo original Stromberg 97! Disassemble, including removal of emulsion tubes, chemical clean, beadblast, boil, ultrasonic clean and color bodies and airhorns using chromatic acid, leaving a grey-green-bronze coating that is impervious to fuel. Base is honed and fitted with new or excellent used plates and throttle shafts (.275") and new reamed bushings (.278"). All removable parts are checked and replaced with New Genuine Service parts as necessary.

Ford Nut Compression Fittings
You probably already know that a Ford Nut is the small brass compression fitting with the correct 1/2 x 20 UNF thread for Stromberg 97/81/48 inlet valves used with 1/4" OD hard fuel line. These come in handy packs of three complete with the brass ferrules. They fit the new Stromberg S-jet and original needle & seat. There's no need to flare the hard line end, just slip the Ford Nut over the end, add the ferrule on the end, then push the pipe firmly into the 97 inlet fitting and tighten the Ford Nut into it, compressing the ferrule to form a good fuel-tight joint. Ford Nuts also fit most Ford Flathead fuel pumps except the 1951-53 1BA glass bowl pump which uses 1/8" NPT fittings.
